Who is GeoHotz?
GeoHotz A.K.A George Hotz made the 1st ever jailbreak for the Apple iPhone 1st Generations , Simply because he did not like the AT&T Plan and wanted T-MOBILE another GSM company . Since today T-MOBILE still has no rights to the Iphone and we are now at the fourth generation. As you see time has expanded and The iPhone/iPod Touch jailbreak can do much more and is better than what the App Store can offer , Also the Jailbreak contained features like video camera and multitasking years before Apple made this available to the public . Eventually the Jailbreak expanded from Mobile devices to other things Like the iPad and Even the PS3!

So my question to Sony the owners of the PS3 , Why cant we Purchase a 300$ PS3 SLIM and jailbreak it at 3.55 and you are no longer responsible for us , And we lose are 1 year warranty . Which was GeoHotz primary intention to bring it back and make his own to run Home brew apps , However this lead to emulators ( Primarily in the Classic Nintendo series Example:Mario) and pirated games.

0:58-1:03: This is where Sony comes in . The Multi billion dollar company that owns the PS3. They want to stop GeoHotz to A. Stop the release of his Jailbreak / Prevent future releases B. To Destroy/Delete all his Jailbreak.ZIP files from the internet . Here is where Sony forgot to put on their thinking caps . Why would Sony want to delete all files from the internet? When most people have it saved on USB/their computers . Sony cant really change the fact that it is already in our possession.Instead of releasing a update (I am not saying i want them too update). ALSO SONY HAS NO INTEREST IN HOTZ GOING TO PRISON OVER THIS!

4:27-4:53 : This is what i primarily want everyone to know . JAILBREAKING YOUR PS3 IS NOT ONLY ABOUT CALL OF DUTY MODDED LOBBYS , its a question of How much of your console do you own? Also if GeoHotz win many more things besides phones can be jailbroken.

4:58 - 5:10 : This is my favorite part of the video , where Hotz is asked about what else he wants to hack . His answer is great it is the PSP2 , a PSP2 that is BOTH A GAMING DEVICE AND A MOBILE PHONE. So then the DMCA Favors Hotz then? Has Sony giving this any consideration?

Short Summary of this thread
This case is more than jailbreaking its about how much you actually own your console. GeoHotz intentions were not piracy . This case is a big question HOW MUCH OF YOUR PS3 DO YOU OWN?

i seriously am praying/hoping he loses his case and goes to jail so he can learn a thing or two from the inmates about "attention" whoring. he is enabling piracy and he knows it, its stupid to deny it and lie about it.

Well you see he disabled the exact thing needed for piracy. But hackers as they are said well lets go ahead and find a way to get this to work. So if anyone should be getting sued it should be the people who made the backup managers and the people who are releasing the pirated games on the internet. This person just enabled us to a whole new world of possibility's for the PS3. If you have ever seen or played an xbox 360 you probably know of a thing called indie games. Games that people develop in there spare time with tools released by microsoft no big companys just like 1-2 people. Those games can either be really cool or absolute garbage. With him enabling homebrew we now have the chance to make cool games such as that. Someone could make a challenging platformer like Super Meat Boy but as a homebrew game. Over all Geohot just made a patch for the PS3 that can free the system up to more things to do.
