They havn't yet why start now? And what would happen if they ban all those people then the court decides Jailbreaking your PS3 is legal. I know I would be raising hell.

I think Sony will patch it and leave us with the only option of reverting to the OFW.

If the court decides it's legal, they can't do shit.

Sony will probably wait to see what happens in the hacking scene. Eventually, there will be 1 unified method that most people will use (the easiest way).
They will see if they can stop it, and if they cant.. I am certain they will ban consoles and release a firmware update or 2. Personally I will wait until after the release of Killzone 3 and LBP2 just in case I find myself banned or worse and unable to play them.

As for online play, if a lot of games are going to be rampant with cheaters.. then I would not want to go online anyway.

Reason why is because they can't tell who have CFW and OFW, so they can't ban us. BUT if with the new FW "3.60" they will be able to see who has a CFW and who dont (because obvious a CFW has different/more/less features that OFW)

So probably yes they will ban, we can't be sure of the answer because it is up to Sony. But with a new firmware they can detect who has it or who doesnt.

I am sure if they start banning they are not going to lose much money. Why would they? People been saying this, but do you honestly think the majority of people will actually begin to pay for content off PSN when they can have it for free? One of the many requested thing on every hacking site is a backup manager. It won't affect them much, if anything a console ban may increase console sales, or as some have been doing buying another PS3 for non hacking purposes.




I don't see why they can't even if they loose. This court case is about hardware and what you should be able to do with it. If it goes with Geo rulling, Sony still has complete control over PSN and can ban if they wish to. It wouldn't be breaking court rules since even if they ban they can still run all the latest homebrews and ect. In fact to get online we have to agree with their rules. So regardless if Jailbreak becomes legal which would make it your right to do anything to your own property, the online portion (PSN) is still a privilege that can be taken away.


Customer service has been strange with their responses. We are getting confirmation of bans and no bans. I emailed them a few days back as well and now telling me that they might do bans but they are unsure at the moment.


We wouldn't be online (PSN), and they can't ban base off that due to the fact that not everyone updates (even legit user) right away.
