1. It's Simiple, Get a Usb stick (Make sure it's FAT32) So the ps3 can read it.
2. Then On the Root of your Usb, Make sure You name a Folder Called "PS3".
3. Then Click the "PS3" Folder you have just made, then Inside that Make another Folder Called "UPDATE"
4. Should be something like this before you use the usb " /PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP"
5. From there you download Waninkoko's CFW then you put that file into the "UPDATE" Folder.
Flash it from Settings -> System Update (or the Recovery Menu if you need to),

Similar as Geohot's Cfw. However you install Geohot's CFW, Do the Exact same. And Make sure the folders of the PS3 is All Caps or It will not read the USB.

People have been bricked on Slim PS3 Due to reasons, Some Ps3 Slim may fail, and Some may Pass. Please make sure you know what you are doing if not, do not go further. Go and research before you go further.

I prefer not switching, If you do, Just make sure you check on the Back what kind of your serial key is. and See what kind of letters you have. I prefer staying on Geohot's atm, once this Waninkoko's CFW is Stable, Because a lot of people have been complaining that their ps3 is bricked.

Well if you want, I can re edit it, Cause I thought people here are professional's and they should know how to install a CFW already due to People know's how to Install Geohot's CFW it's Very similar things. Just follow what kind of serial and if your good to go, then do the update.

ive same as you(CECHL04) and i dont want backups but im more interested in downloading games,is it even possible? if so,can you post some tutorial?and site where i can dl? the thing im interested is mostly black ops DLC and other psn games,i made to work few psn games on Geohots cfw,thx for reply

Hey, oh I'm on Geohot's CFW and when I check my System Settings it Does not say 3.55-Geo. Its completely 3.55 only for me.

Oh, You can do this, go to Recovery mode then install it from there. if that doesn't work tell me.

There have been many brick reports… Some fat models, some slim… Many variables come into play when patching LV2. So right now, it’s like this: If you really, really want backups, then give it a shot, just know the risks involved — you could end up with nothing in the end. Otherwise I recommend you buy your games and jailbreak only for homebrew purposes.
