If its an accident.. prepare for 3.57 to fix it.

Buy a ps3 on ebay, no HD (Hypothetically), around 100$, buy a 300gig HD used for about 100, seems cheaper then a new ps3

Well, The way it could have prevented upgrading is by the Ps3 registering with only one hard drive and no more.. Which would mean when you update to this update you better have the hard drive you want in or your out of luck....

and Cd Kane: I agree they probably did this on accident while patching other security holes... SO 3.57 will come fast if this is true...

if thats ture then dang another feat. s0ny took away. now how are people going to have all thoes dlc per game and data saves and all thoes digital contant that s0ny has on the ps store, also the peoples' own contanst of pictures-audios-videos, all with out the option to upgrade to a bigger hard drive. that sucks. buying ps3 with more hdd space cost more than upgrade' it your self, plus upgrade'n you can pass the 320gb that s0ny pushes out.

hmmm... anyone try using an image program or ghost program to copy an hdd image to another hdd and install the new one on 3.56 to see if that works...? I think it would or are you saying it disables the ability to read a new drive other than the one in the system before update(as in it recognizes the serial number?) when inserted? Or are you saying that if a hdd isn't already formatted for the ps3 it won't work? Cause I have 3 drives I use one with backed up games, one with just homebrew, and one that I haven't done anything on... speaking of that does anyone know if the cfw installs on the system or on the hdd cause I am on kmeaw's cfw on the 2 drives with homebrew and the other one has nothing showing the install pkg folder or the app folder? Is it safe to update on that drive? Any answers to these would be appreciated...
