Sony has been very busy at work, since winning their Temporary Restraining Order against George Hotz. The Sony hitmen have been targeting the next tier of PS3 devs, by issuing DMCA takedown notices to a number of high profile devs. They've now targeted such people as graf_chokolo, kmeaw, and Kakaroto!

The first to go down was the professor at Carnegie Mellon, who had placed a mirror of geohot's original website, complete with keys. He decided to exercise some caution, and removed the site voluntarily.

1/27/2011 Update: Judge Illston has granted the TRO against George Hotz despite the venue issue still being contested by Hotz's attorney. And I'm out of town. Since CMU has a west coast campus in California and is therefore subject to her jurisdiction, I have disabled my mirror until I can get back to Pittsburgh and look more closely at the current state of things.

Developers all around the PS3 scene started receiving DMCA takedown notices, starting with kmeaw, famous for his custom firmware.

Graf_chokolo posted on XorLoser's blog regarding his DMCA takedown, but he doesn't seem too concerned.

SONY took down my GIT repo :-) Who still needs my source code just email me and i will upload it for you :-) Still working on ENCDEC reversing :-) It’s fun :-)

Kakaroto recently tweeted about his DMCA takedown:

Mathieulh doesn't seem to concerned either:

As most people seem to be unaware of, DMCA holds no jurisdiction outside the US.

Should they ever send a DMCA notice here, I wont pull down whatever they ask me to unless they get a valid court order from a French Judge.

Did you read my post properly? I guess not, I said "newbs ruining the game" I basically mean kids who think they are so awesome because they could JB their PS3 with CFW and host CLs in public lobbies, that type of ruining the game. It's ok in private lobbies, but abit out of control when a 12 year old gets hyper because he can host a CL in public. And this forum is not a hacking site, it's a video games forum, your just giving Sony more of a reason to watch NGU closer now by saying it's a hacking website. :n:

I think we should make it like everything else on console. Once everyone knows how to do it, and is doing it, they begin to care less. Strength In Numbers, nuff said.

I was working on a CFW 3.56 and still am i got the same blank error everyone is i dont know what could be wrong we just switched the version about but the effect must be different idk.

Im saying sony is really hard on everyone but this is way to far out of hand sony needs to chill....
In the United Kingdom piracy is illegal yes but this is really screwed for everyone but im happy to say one thing...
We still have the legal right to hack our console (Sorry sony) If you have not updated to 3.56 you still have the legal right to jailbreak your playstation 3.
When CFW 3.56 comes in order the user should change the User agreement so that this could be a big plot out for 8 year old idiot's....

Bottom Line : Sony took this way to far and if you have firmware 3.55 you still have the legal right to jailbreak the sony ps3 cause you have not agreed to the TOS aka meaning you never agreed that legal action can be taken against you.

i suggest bypassing until 3.56 CFW is ready.....

I agree with what your saying mate and i'm not against JailBreak, for the love of God I own 2 JailBreak systems and 1 OFW system and I love JB. But I also said earlier that I agreed with DerekTrotter and can see where Sony are going with this, If Sony don't protect their network then soon all newbs will be running it. It was better when JailBreak 1st came out I honestly believe, because then little 9 year olds wern't trying to run it. Lol

well now that 9 year olds cant run it because they didnt have the patients to wait for 3.56 CFW which is really good and no1 can make a 3.56 CFW that will work on a 3.56 OFW first so im glad there will be less hackers but more hacking to 3.56 cause i want to do i sjust ****ing own little newbs such as 9 years olds like i use to when i was hosting before this jailbreak hit the spot....

Why dont sony just make a private serverr for people who want to hack ? so hackers get logged into that server

If nothing was done and everybody was lazy to do anything then you'd soon see newbs hacking every game online and ruining it. Btw Derek, Love Mossy's edit of your patch :p

ya mean his edit of Mossy's patch

Well I know Mossy made all of it, like I said I was putting it into different context. In other words a different way of saying thanks for the patch and good job on a good edit of Mossy... And the patch to be honest aint all that bad, I have seen alot worser. Yes Chrome Playas edit was good but I prefer Bushigans stuff really, just for the great Stat Editor really.
