Asbestos 1.2 Released - Network Install No Longer Necessary
The new release no longer requires a network setup to install/setup. Support for "Fat" PS3 models also arrived earlier today

Instructions:
    
How To:


1. install AsbestOS installer v1 or higher:
slim - asbestOS_v1.2_Slim.pkg (3.32 MB)
fat - asbestOS_v1.2_FAT.pkg (3.32 MB)

2. partition a USB disk to have at least one partition (FAT-formatted);

3. Download debian.rar (295.14 MB) unpack linux.img and put it into the root dir of usb disk;

4. run AsbestOS installer;

5. install lv2 patcher v9 or higher: lv2-v9.zip (111.43 KB);

6. attach an ethernet cable, connected to a network with a dhcp-server (just for the initial boot, it can be a SOHO router - just anything with DHCP); (NO LONGER NECESSARY IN ASBESTOS 1.2+)

7. run lv2 patcher and select "Linux";

8. as you see the fb console with penguins, you can unplug the ethernet cable; (NO LONGER NECESSARY IN ASBESTOS 1.2+)

9. login: ps3, password: ps3.

If you don't see anything, press Ctrl-Alt-F1, then Alt-F7.

i would say if your a noobie and dont know what linux is then dont bother with,it will be very little use to the noobie.

Can’t trickshot me!
dose not seem to work on fat ps3s, everytime i select linux on lv2 patcher it reboots ps3 and gives the error: ps3 was not turned off properly
anyone managed to get this to work on a fat ps3?

Only the lack of ram makes installing windows 7 or similar will just run shitty.

anyone got this working on an old fat ps3? everytime i select linux on lv2 patcher it reboots ps3 and gives the error: ps3 was not turned off properly
dose the linux img have to be on a flash drive or will a normal memory card work? i think this is were i might be going wrong
