Want to keep all of your patches? Read here for info how to save all your patches before you update to official firmware

What you're going to want to do is save all of your patches to your USB Drive.

Steps????

1. Put patch on your PS3.
2. Go To System Settings -> Backup Utility
3. Back up your PS3
If you have nothing on your PS3, the backup should be only about 30mb. so you can put like 100 patches on your USB. If it says you need a shitload of more space, just delete all your stuff, or just restore your playstation. it only takes a few minutes.
This backs up everything on your USB, including all your accounts.

4.Plug your USB into your Computer
5.Rename the 002348923ADK folder/file to whatever patch it is.
6. REPEAT

Now, in order to get those patches..

1. Go to System Settings -> Backup Utility
2. Go to "Restore"
3. Pick the patch you want from the list of your backups.
4. DONE =D

Now, for those of you who didn't know. You can now have any patch on your PS3 without having to have a jailbroken PS3! =D

I understand this all works and it is a great method. I have only 3 questions.

1. Lets say I have got Elitemossy v10 or whatever (just example), and then I backup and I have a backup on my usb called Elitemossyv10 and brilliant I can load it anytime I want it works. OK, lets say Elitemossy v11 comes out can I open my backup and replace the EMv10 backup with the new EMv11 patch and then restore that.

2. When the new mw2 patch update come out and my backed up versions no longer work as I will need to update. Again can I change them for a modded version of the new patch to come.

3. Finally, If lets say someone on the forum backed up a patch using your method could they then send the files to another member then that member could put the files on to their usb and load them. Or is each backup assigned to the ps3 that originally made the backup.

These are serious questions and I know for a fact I am not the only one wanting to know the answers so if someone could answer or at least give an educated guess then thank you.

no no and no. this is just for when you update, you can no longer switch patches cause you no longer have access to any hacking tools. therefore, you can use your PS3 backups to switch through patches.

the new MW2 patch won't be out for a long time, so don't worry.

The backup only works on the ps3 u backed it up on. Sorry but sony is not dumb lol. That's what data transfer utility is for though
