Want to keep all of your patches? Read here for info how to save all your patches before you update to official firmware

What you're going to want to do is save all of your patches to your USB Drive.

Steps????

1. Put patch on your PS3.
2. Go To System Settings -> Backup Utility
3. Back up your PS3
If you have nothing on your PS3, the backup should be only about 30mb. so you can put like 100 patches on your USB. If it says you need a shitload of more space, just delete all your stuff, or just restore your playstation. it only takes a few minutes.
This backs up everything on your USB, including all your accounts.

4.Plug your USB into your Computer
5.Rename the 002348923ADK folder/file to whatever patch it is.
6. REPEAT

Now, in order to get those patches..

1. Go to System Settings -> Backup Utility
2. Go to "Restore"
3. Pick the patch you want from the list of your backups.
4. DONE =D

Now, for those of you who didn't know. You can now have any patch on your PS3 without having to have a jailbroken PS3! =D

you should, just because it's alot easier way to transfer through patches rather than using blackb0x all the time. Cool Man (aka Tustin)

blackb0x will take like 10 minutes to get you back online

restoring backups will take about 20 seconds :p

what thread? what do you mean, i've known about this since like, august.

i was originally going to make this thread but juddylovespizza beat me to it You must login or register to view this content.

i only posted it here again because everybody is screwed that they have to update to 3.56 since YESTERDAY so i was making sure all the new people (there are 50,000 new people here since december) were aware of this so they don't lose their patches. /facepalm

so, now what?

allready on 3.56 for few days now its good i can still switch patches whit data transfer so . but still good thread

you know, the main point of using backup utility was so you didn't have to data transfer every patch. that means going into blackb0x every time you want a new patch, then data transfering, every time.

with this method, you can data transfer just once, then backup your 3.56 PS3 and you would never have to data transfer again :y:
