I recently fixed my PS3 from YLOD. So, I have been trying to update it to 3.55 OFW. However the first few times I tried it said that the data was corrupt. So I put it into Recovery Mode/Service Mode and updated from there. It downloads fine but it goes to about 89% installation then gives me an error message & tells me to call Sony. I'll call them as soon as they open but I am wondering if anyone can help me <3.

you need to go online and download the firmware via usb. On your ps3 plug usb in and under system update click Via Media.

When I turn on my PS3 it goes straight to the "Installing" screen.

did u put a usb in? with the update from PC

1. Recovery mode - Restore ps3 system.
2. Recovery mode - Restore file system.
3. Recovery mode - Rebuild database.
4. Recovery mode - Update via USB.

What FW is it on now? Try updating to the next highest one then go from there.

Can't go into anything when I turn it on it goes straight to the "Installing" screen. It won't go into recovery mode.

Open your hdd cover and remove the screw so you can take it out any second you want but leave the hdd in for now.

When update begins after booting, pull it out and you should get a error and a counter counting down from 60, let it count to 0... youll get a black screen for 20+ seconds, just keep waiting...
Youll get a message about formating hdd (if not try again untill you get it). connect your controller and slide the hdd in again. This should work but im not responsible for any damaga blablablabla.

Plug turn off your router and then it should stop updating via internet . then just plug in your usb and update . Hope fully that will work for u man
