the system would start on cfw then run this then load the ofw Smile

cant be done yet because fimware is flashed to the nand chip and otheros uses the hypervisor to load. if you try to flash two different firmwares onto the nand chip you will blow your efuses and you ps3 will be junk

no.. the ps3 will start on OFW. all the HV stuff is stored in the NAND/NOR (it depends on which type of ps3 you have), so when you upgrade your ps3, you will upgrade also the HV and then you will not able to load anything different from the new FW.

the new kmeaw fw will boot 3.55 or older fw

but if we had a virtual nand that we could wright to but we would have t copy the original nand first to put on the virtual nand

its the ps3 itsself that gets update the hdd is not gonna help a damned thing if u update, if u update a half of the ps3 hdd then u have to update the other half just to run = at that it mostlikly would delete other os as other os would only exist threw cfw

Don't think that it is possible, somebody asked euss, from PS3Crunch (Dukio.com), and here was euss' response

euss : You can however succesfully use OtherOS/AsbestOS /OtherOS++ to add unlimited (limited by the bootloader, in this example petitboot and hardware only) lets say 9999 different Linux/BSD installations.

euss : Oh, and in that explaination I completely ignore the fact of binded devices like the blu-ray, network etc. Otherwise you'll end up with errors like we had in the downgrader days with DRL errors because of timetraveling AACS.

euss : Besides the harddisk, you would also need to make a dualboot for the NOR/NAND + SysCon. Not very likely that someone would even put (the imo useless) effort into that.

*Censored* : It would be cool if somebody made a Dualboot fw like 1 for cfw (offline) an 1 for ofw [online]. Smile its just an idea.

So looking at this, it doesn't seem easy, as in having 1 firmware cfw 3.55, and another one 3.60.
But if we have 1 CFW, 3.55, and 1 OFW 3.55, then that is more possible, but to have another OFW with 3.60 can become complicated.

This is a great idea JBerry, i believe they are working on this. We also have to remember this is a very complicated process for our hackers. It wouldn't be a 1...2...3... step done like most of our programs, this might take weeks i suppose we never know. I thank our hackers and if they do make this then i suppose all our hackers would be very satisfied. Thanks for the idea JBerry now if they do successfully make the dual boot option, i would like to add you on PSN! Smile

Im a noob but if we could partition the hdd to keep the data separate and maybe fit another NAND we might be able to do this. Also if this would work someone could develop a usb NAND so noobs like me could use it.
