(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); If i were to buy a new hard drive for my fat ps3 would that take the custom firmware i have on my ps3 off? Or would it not effect it at all?

Yes it would because when you take it out the ps3 will format the drive when you put itt back in... plus the CFW is installed on the hard drive not the PS3 itself.

It woudln't effect it at all. The firmware is installed onto the flash of your PS3, not the hard drive. The only effect is not having any of your save games, profiles etc. but that won't be a problem since you can either back them up with the backup utility, FTP or a filemanager, which ever tickles your pickle

reformating the hard drive can affect the cfw from running homebrew

a certain amount of firmware files get copied to the hdd

i no this coz ive just had to reinstall kmeaw after wiping my hdd by mistake when i broke my ps3

my hombrew works now

and it ddnt b4 i reinstalled kmeaw

it affected my hombrew from running

installed after formatting hard drive = black screen

reinstalled kmeaw homebrew works now no black screens

so in a way it can affect it

thats only for the slims, all the firmware is stored on the flash on the phat's

i have a fat ps3

i should no m8 ive had my ps3 in peices over the last 2 days my bluray is broke

homebrew wasnt working

i had to reflash my ps3 with kmeaw and it works now

bits of the firmware get copied to the hard drive

how do u think u can access your flash threw ftp and multiman to replace coldboots and other stuff

because only the main boot files get copied to the flash the rest is copied to the hdd
