well i updated my cfw ps3 on accident when some fag put out a fake cfw that was 3.60 ofw.
but my friend has an old ps3 he said hell sell me for 50 bucks!
what i want to ask... its on software version 3.50 or 3.42 he said. he says hes not sure and hell check tomorrow.
but i get it to 3.55 by putting 3.55 ofw in a flash drive correct?
or can i not choose what version it goes to?

You can put it to any higher version through usb.

Yep, just download the 3.55 firmware from here: You must login or register to view this content.

then, put it on your USB drive. Remember, Make a folder called PS3, then a folder inside that called UPDATE, then put the .PUP file in there, (F:/PS3/UPDATE/)

then you can update to whatever custom firmware from there. :p
