Post: 8002F1F9 - failde update to 3.55

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a PS3 that was fully functional 3.21 . EVERYTHING WAS WORKING EXCEPT THE HARDDRIVE. I replaced the hard drive because the original wouldn't read and I couldn't boot with it.

I could boot up the system with another hard drive, and when I attempted to update to 3.55 OFW, it got to 72% and stopped and is now in an update loop. ERROR CODE 8002F1F9!

Someone please help. I've read somewhere that you can take it apart and do something to get it to finish the update, but want to be sure as to not **** anything up!

I've tried using various hard drives/ formatting to no avail.

Where's the best place to get the download?

have you tried entering safe mode and doing a restore of database? or the one above that i forget the name. that may help.
do not send to sony until its 100% unfixable lolHappy they are cheap @ssholes who love making money.
just power down the ps3.... turn in back on but continue to hold down the power butoon.... it will eventually shut off. then do the same thing untill u hear a double beep ( 2 beeps really fast) then pull your fingure off the button and it will enter safe mode. just shut off and turn on regularly to exit it if needed.

I have tried EVERY option in recovery mode.
Disk cannot be read still.

I believe I just have to use the original hard drive to enter recovery mode, then insert a FRESHLY FORMATTED hard drive formatted in NTFS, then update it. I just need to find a way to format this god damn drive to NTFS

hey i have the same problem as the op. i am on 3.55 and the ps3 is stuck in an update loop. at 72% i get error code 8002F1F9. the controllers dont work unless i plug it in via usb and i can only turn it on by pressing the power. also i purchased another bluetooth/wifi board with the antenna cord. but it did not work. its been 5 months now.

i am going to format the hard drive on the pc and try again.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what is did.

i first removed the battery and shorted the circuit.

next i removed the hdd from my laptop and then put it in my ps3. i then went to the recovery menu. at the recovery menu i removed the laptop hdd and put back my original ps3 hdd. than i went to restore ps3 system. this will format your original hdd so the update loop will be removed. than i turned it off while it was restoring (not from the back!). after i went back to recovery and went to option 2 (restore default settings). after 2 minutes the ps3 wast restored and the sony logo and date, time came up. luckily my data was not deleted and my profiles were still there.

the only think is that i cant connect to the internet and the controller only works when plugged in but at least i have an os. and psn is still down so i can just play games offline. i will buy a replacement ribbon cable.

My ps3 had been bricked (dec 2010) and today (5 months later) i was able to fix.

SO TRY THIS IT SHOULD WORK.
