Post: 8002F1F9 - failde update to 3.55
04-11-2011, 07:17 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a PS3 that was fully functional 3.21 . EVERYTHING WAS WORKING EXCEPT THE HARDDRIVE. I replaced the hard drive because the original wouldn't read and I couldn't boot with it.

I could boot up the system with another hard drive, and when I attempted to update to 3.55 OFW, it got to 72% and stopped and is now in an update loop. ERROR CODE 8002F1F9!

Someone please help. I've read somewhere that you can take it apart and do something to get it to finish the update, but want to be sure as to not **** anything up!

I've tried using various hard drives/ formatting to no avail.

i think its because uve switched hard drive and certain firmwares dont accept a upgraded hard drive

3.56 was released and lots of people had problems when they upgraded there hard drive and 3.56v2 sorted that out

maybe your stuck in that loop because u have jumped from 3.21 to 3.55

personally i would of gone to 3.41 first and then 3.50 and maybe 3.55 ofw 1st before and cfw

try installing 3.41 in recovery mode if it lets u

i dnt think taking it apart will do anygood becuase firmware is flash related and i dont think that messing with the flash from the outside will do much good

might break it even more

Ok, I've downloaded OFW 3.30, 3.41, and 3.50

I don't think it's the problem though because I Jumped my other from 2.60 to 3.55 no problem.

OOOOOOO but maybe it worked in that one because it was on the original HDD?!

Ok, so the only way I can get it into recovery is by inserting the fried original HDD, or a fresh formatted one, I'll try inserting a formatted HDD, and reflashing the original 3.21, and if it doesn't work, I'll try 3.30 and report back.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TRYING TO HELP ME. I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH.

I'd +rep, but I don't think it'll do anything?

i just found this on You must login or register to view this content.

this is version 3.56 details please note the bit in red i think this is of inportance to you

System changes
System security has been improved, blocking ability to play backups or downgrading firmware.
Added an Ipla TV channel under [TV] for Poland.
Downloaded demos are no longer collapsed in a folder.
System changes (for 3.56 reissue)
Initially caused issues (like in 3.41) when upgrading the hard disk with this firmware on some systems. A semi-fix has been published. Fix will only work if user still has the original unformatted hard drive. Users who don't have the old hard drive or have formatted it are not able to install system software.

inserted original HDD, went to recovery, tried to reflash 3.21... 8002F281

got to recovery again, then swapped to unformatted HDD that works and tried to reflash, same thing.

How can I format the disk without SATA cables? Can I use my other ps3?

I have NOT formatted the drive, but I cannot get it to be recognized.

Called $$$$ony and they $$$$aid it would be $$$$100 to fix the problem THAT THEY CAUSED.

redownload 3.55 sounds like it got messed up while you were downloading it do that first then try to update the error you have typically means corrupted data was found in the update. I suggest rebuilding the database first then updating to a freshly downloaded copy of 3.55
