Haxor!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Was playing Free For All on Black Ops and my PS3 decided to bleep and switch off. Its not the RLOD as i have had it many times before. Turned it on, seems like its booting up but freezes at the swirly lines.

I tried to brick it the other day as its really old and i have another new one on 3.60. Pulled the power on many a format and never seemed to work until today. If i put it in service mode would i be able to downgrade it to another firmware, 3.41 maybe then up to 3.55.

Any help appreciated!

Do a barrel roll!
Never hurts to try, you might get lucky although I and many others doubt it.
Give it a shot and inform us

whatever you do do not put it into service mode, you will not have a fun time getting out(its basically impossible) but you can use one of the tuts on how to downgrade form any fw and by using the .diag files you can indeed downgrade to anything you want(if you want ill link a tut for you)
but the downgrade is the hard part.... dont f your ps up by going into service mode(cant get out) use the .diag files to force recovery mode and then downgrade.
hope i helped Smile
here is a tut( you can skip the bricking methods part if you alrdy have a bricked ps3)
You must login or register to view this content.
but you probably already know about it since you tried bricking before but there you go anyways lol.

Nah its not YLOD. Had loads of them and fixed them all with a new bit of arctic silver and a heat gun. Its definately a brick, freezes on startup when the swirly lines are on. Just transfering the lvl2self file and the 3.41 pup. We shall see!

Get it in service mode, and try to some stuff on there. Might just be broken.
Hold the power button until it turns off.
Hold the power button, hear 1 beep, hear 2 beeps, let go.

are u referring to safe mode? what u are describing is how to enter safe mode. service mode= big mistake for fw 3.55 and up.

Id listen to what this guy said. You need the diag files before you do anything else or your pretty much screwed.
