Hey all, just added an extra usb port to my ps3 slim and want to share this tutorial of how I did it.

You will need the following:

A good solder gun.
A knife or blade
usb extension lead.

I wont bore anyone with how to open the ps3 slim.

This is the location of where I placed the usb port. Its a tight squeze so be sure to cut in the right place. Try it yourself for the best spot.

Using you knife/blade start cutting, once the hole for the usb is cut and your sure it fits you should have something like this (place the power supply for the PS3 back in its place to make sure it fits in):

OK now for the wiring, Its simple enough even for inexperienced people.
Get your usb extension and cut the male and off strip the wires back and your good to go.

On your ps3, At the existing usb ports you will have these small solder points, this is where you will be soldering.

You should have the wires in this order: BLACK, GREEN, WHITE, RED. grab your solder gun and stick em on!

Yes the ps3 changed colours. I sprayed it white while I had it taken apart.

Yea it is very easy. and the only reason i didn't add 2 ports was because i Couldn't find space to put a 2nd one. don't let that stop you tho you can add as many as you like. i will be adding 2 more to my fat ps3 soon for my external HDDs. Sony should have done that to begin with.

any risk of breaking ps3?

It's a nice feature but I think I wouldn't use it that much and I don't want to be messing with wires in my ps3.
