of course, he won't share how to do it Winky Winky

but... its pretty easy :p

requirements:
grafs kernel, ps3dm-utils and linux_hv_scripts

to patch your DM you have to run dmpatch.sh (skip if you're on gitbrew fw)

read QA flag:

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy read_eprom 0x48C0A
it should return 0xFF on retail ps3.
just set it to 0x00 Happy

write QA flag: <- on your own risk!

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy write_eprom 0x48C0A 0x00

OR

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy write_eprom 0x48C0A 0xFF
its a very mighty tool. you can also enable product mode and other things.

It requires you to have lvl 2 access and PS3 Linux to place the flag So it'll only work with CFW/Dongle. This is just a tutorial for placing the flag you still need the button combo to activate it, to get the button combo you have to reverse engineer vsh.self.

So 3.60 downgrading and all that stuff is useless right now having the flag means nothing because you still need the Button Combo and FYI once we get the combo it only work with CFW/Dongles 3.60 is still screwed if your at that currently.

Also this "QA Flag" is independent of the Firmware so it looks like it'll stay even if you upgrade to the latest OFW.

If i understand this correctly, you need to start off with a jailbroken PS3 to use linux in order to write the flag. Once the flag is written, you can update to 3.60 and downgrade back to 3.55 or lower as you see fit.

According to Math, flagging the PS3 was the hard part and looking for the button combo in vsh.self is relatively easy for the peeps in the know how.

Since flagging is "firmware independant" I doubt a prepatched pup will be possible, but I may be wrong.

Besides all you need is linux on your PS3 to write the flag.

Yeah he could of just been saying that TBH to throw people off you know, If this works once and if we get the button combo though. Then I'm sorry but Math was full of Shit on the Flag thing then. Only time will tell though we'll see soon enough.

I think your right on that since it's Firmware Independent I doubt there will be PUP's available for this.

This has nothing to do with .PUPs, for example you could do this, switch to OFW and homebrew would still work. The data telling the console if it's QA or not resides outside of the firmware.
