recently our friend mathieulh has released a video with a retail PS3 he QA flagged.

You must login or register to view this content.

of course, he won't share how to do it Winky Winky

but... its pretty easy :p

requirements:
grafs kernel, ps3dm-utils and linux_hv_scripts

to patch your DM you have to run dmpatch.sh (skip if you're on gitbrew fw)

read QA flag:

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy read_eprom 0x48C0A
it should return 0xFF on retail ps3.
just set it to 0x00 Happy

write QA flag: <- on your own risk!

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy write_eprom 0x48C0A 0x00

OR

ps3dm_um /dev/ps3dmproxy write_eprom 0x48C0A 0xFF
its a very mighty tool. you can also enable product mode and other things.

There are 2 Big steps we have to do to get our ps3 flagged so we can downgrade and stuff.
Only the first step is found. They still need to find the combination.
You don't need to know linux..He just wrote a tutorial so why would you need to know linux?

It doesn't even seem that hard to do, provided you know what you're doing. I haven't had much experience with Linuxso I wouldn't know ehere to begin but I'm sure someone that has never touched a PS3 and is very talented with Linux would be able to do this.

Well there's a lot of text statements that I don't understand and it looks very similar to linux so that's why I asked. Also this dual boot stuff requires you to know linux and I just don't have one but I would like to learn how to use it.

Sorry to break the mood, but that's not the way to do it, the flag is not only in the eeprom, it's protected by a token. The EEPROM flash is just a marker to tell the console to check the token.

Ah so 2 useless things now, This and the Button Combo. The only way your getting a valid verifier "Token" is by dumping it from a Flagged DEH Unit which is the hard part apparently since it's near impossible to get one of those. I wonder what Method Math used to get a token probably PS3's hypervisor... which is impossible for us normal users. RMS disclosed where to look but not exact details...
