What would i miss out on by staying on 3.55? Can i still access online play; psn?

Play backups?
Yes,but some of the newest games being released require 3.60 or 3.61 FW to play.

Online Play?
There is a way to play online 3.55 rebug,but it requires the 3.61 spoofer and you MUST already have a Sp-int account(dev account) and right now you cant create a new sp-int account.

Cheers bud. Can a console running cfw be returned to normal fw and be updated without risk of getting banned?

Yes it can, at the moment i'm on 3.55, but if a spoofer doesnt come out which allows psn access in the next week or so i'm gonna update because i miss having a laugh with my mates. It was great when you could get online with CFW but i think those days are over now. Who knows though.

So if i had 3.55 cfw, played a load of games then reverted back to official fw would i still have all the trophies collected while playing on cfw?

Yep you would, it doesnt do anything to your account/ hardrive so anything you do on CFW will be transferred back to OFW
