It would be way easier if you just take your hdd out of your ps3 and connect it to your computer... which also can't be done properly without alot of tools and has been tried before and failed before... not tried from a usb stick I believe... but still its the same principal as the format structure is unrecognized except in linux I believe. So good luck mate but im 99.999% percent certain even if you do manage to do this that you still won't be able to get past the encryption necessary to access the 3.60/61 keys... but what the hey try it anyway. Also be sure that if your on 3.60/3.61 that you have access to the vflash memory which is impossible without cfw or circuit modification so that you can actually backup the data where the keys are stored as backup only backs up what is on the hdd... which IS NOT where the keys are stored.

This also belongs in the questions section mate... most theories do for the most part for future reference unless of course its posed as an idea only when the results are found does it usually belong in the exploits forum.

Thats kinda what I was doing. But, what I did was instead of using backup utility, I used a SATA cable and created an image of my ps3 hdd for the sole purpose of decrypting it so I can access my PS3 files (aka locate the ps3 keys) however, with the new ps3's 3.61 update that seems nearly impossible because idk where the **** to find those keys. You method is possible, as is mine, but to decrypt.... ugh... nearly impossible to be done now.

Also, the keys are not located on the PS3 hdd... so Idk how to get them anyway.... =\

Once again make sure you copy vflash as that location isn't on the hard drive its on the flash memory which is where the keys are kept

Hm so i've checked around a little...
Picture this scenario:
My ps3 has no (in this case) mw2 patches on it... Legit 3.61.
My mate's ps3 has mw2 patches on it... 3.55 CFW.
It can be transfered to the legit one using the backup method.

Since i dont have a hdd with mw2 patches, someone PM me who has it on their ps3. Ill tell the steps you need to perform for meSmile. I might be on to something, not sure though! Holla!

You can't without following the blueprints already posted in this forum no way to access it unless on 3.55 or 3.41 cfw without knowing how to modify the circuit so you can clone the nand chip when you update in the first place so you can read the data as it is being updated live on your pc Smile. Hope that helps the blue prints are on the this site just search for I believe it was called 3.56 and 3.60 exploit blue prints or something along those lines. GL mate im not too good at the soldering myself already been through 3 ps3's trying to achieve it but don't have a steady enough hand for it need more practice. Good luck though mate.
