1.Go to walmart/gamestop(preferably gamestop to buy a used one)
2.Buy the same MODEL of your PS3 (same hdd size too)
3.take it home and get your original one out
4.switch the hdd's in them (put yours in the new one and the new one in the original)
5.now out yours in thebox that the new one came in
6.go back where you bought it and get your money back

PROS: The newer one would be on 3.50 FW so you could downgrade or go to 3.55 CFW

CONS: You still only have 1 PS3 meaning you need another one if you want online

MY QUESTION:I was thinking, what if the serial # is saved somewhere so when you take it back they would know? You could always switch the serial # stickers on the back of the PS3's but could they STILL know it wasn't the new one?? If not, I will more then likely do this!

I KNOW I ALREADY HAVE 2 PS3 BUT MY BRO WANTS HIS OWN PS3 WITH CFW, HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT PSN.

Your best bet is to do it on a saturday when its busy...
Keep wating till you see around 5 people walking to the register and pop in line before them, saying you need to go to the hospital cause of a friend and they need to hurry

And then sit home, hoping they wont catch you since you are frauding... If they do, you're ****ed

Although there are 5 serials on the box in which they identify it, im not sure about how many there are on the ps3 itself but i think the serial has 2. So somewhere there are more stickers... Then it depends if they open the ps3 yes or no... Its a bet you should be willing to take... I wont, i can tell you that.

dude this doesnt sound possible IT IS POSSIBLE. I HAVE 2 PS3 DUE TO THIS. BUT I DID RUN INTO SOME PROBLEM. 1ST I WOULD TELL YOU TO GO WITH WALMART NOT GAMESTOP. YOU HAVE TO USE A BLOW DRYER to make the serial number sticker come off with the glue on the old ps3 and just change it put it on the new one and return it. the only problem i had that my ps3 didnt no look new. it had scratches and shit and they guy kept looking at that. but at the end they refunded my money . ohhhhh and lets not forget that walmart does not check the hdd . so take it out and have an extra one :wink:

no cammy you can do it. just take of the warranty sticker with a blowdryer real slow and with care

Problem is most dealers ask for your name and address during a return. Upside is most employees don't pay attention to serial numbers, ID, etc.

To sum it all up very possible if the guy behind the counter looks as interested in being there as you are about updating your CFW PS3.
