Gitbrew just announced a tool that will allow you to QA Flag your PS3 in the most simplest way possible. What is QA Flag you ask? QA Flag is the internal console flag used by Sony, it basically enables you to view/use hidden option which are only accessible to QA centers and the R&

OtherOS++ 3.41 CFW PUP
(this fw can be created in PS3mfw with patches from the git repos)

|Instruction|
1) Download the Otheros++ .pup from above
2) Install that on your PS3
3)Once Otheros++ is installed, Run qa_flag.pkg if you hear a beep, it worked.
*If not, dump your debug messages via udp_printf on linux and send toYou must login or register to view this content. to fix.
4)Reboot the ps3
5)Go to network settings (Do not enter it) and hit or hold
L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+down on the dpad
6)QA auto flagging is now done
7)Turn on the 'system update debug' in the debug settings
8 )Do a system update back to your CFW i.e. Kmeaw, GeoHot, Waninkoko, etc

Let it fall.
My theory would be if you update with debug settings on it should stay on. If im not mistaken when you updated with a different NP Environment, it stayed on.......Shouldn't system update debug as well? I got two ps3s so I don't have a real need to risk it but perhaps someone can and see if they can downgrade after upgrading, of course knowing that the process may not work.

Yeah just do it through a USB. I would recommend doing it in recovery mode. That's just how I did it to reduce the chance of bricking. You need to put the PS3UPDAT.PUP in a Folder called "PS3" on the root of your drive. Then inside that "PS3" folder, make another folder named "UPDATE". Then insert the .PUP file into that folder.

Ok...you can groan at me or yell for me not reading past page 9, but this essentially lets us play newer games offline?
I thought the debug settings/ qa flag were always there once the token has been set.
Or do you need the button combo to "enable" it with each new firmware release?
Because i thought the real advantage / purpose of QA flagging was that it was 'unstoppable' meaning you'd always have 'legal backups' and the newest firmware so you'd be online too.
