I am attempting at installing Kmeaw and the offical 3.55 firmware via USB but I keep getting errors when installing. Can I make a jump from 3.00 to 3.55 or do I need to gradually update?

I had the same problem when cfw first came out. did you try kmeaw peek and poke lv.2 go to dash... It would be easier if i just gave you the link.

Go into recovery mode then after install it after you install cfw 3.55 ofw from the xmb then cfw in recovery mode.

you may have to rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP and please it into a folder stack like so PS3>UPDATE>PS3UDAT.PUP (Your file)

Search function is working great, its how I found the file prior to peoples response. However when searching the error I have, not very many articles come up even on google. I believe I have found my issue in I did a quick format instead of a long format. Will attempt tomorrow and post results.

have you got the normal harddrive then it might work bud then you can change hard drive after if need be
