CEX2DEX in 10 Minutes - Easy

Steps:
1: Dump your CEX flash in multiman:
To dump flash: mmOS->Select any file->Open in HEX viewer->[SELECT]->[START]->UMP LV2(NO)->UMP LV1(NO)->UMP FLASH(YES)

2: Install + Run eEID_RKDumper.pkg then get your eid_root_key from dev_hdd0/tmp

3: Load your CEX flash dump and eid_root _key in CEX2DEX to create your DEX flash (if your files dont show when trying to open them in CEX2DEX type *.* and all files will show).
(For NOR flash rename it to my-DEX-flash.EID0.NORBIN , for NAND my-DEX-flash.EID0.NANDBIN)

4: Start up Multiman (the version in this thread only) and press X twice on your new DEX dump, select yes 3 times and it will be installed. Reboot and install the DEX firmware of your choice, go to ps3devwiki You must login or register to view this content. and at the bottom of the page you can get any OFW DEX firmware available including the 3.55 Downgrader. Also get Exeedy's 3.55 MFW from You must login or register to view this content., it has all the CFW features you'll need.

Notes:
You will lose Blu-ray playback after converting to DEX but it should return after flashing back to CEX
All retail discs will work on 4.11 DEX converted console as of today's date of 7/23/12.

just realized it make a .bin not .NORBIN i just change the ext to .norbin and im all set correct. just wanna get ever thing correct

i got it working i figured that out last night also about system files... now i am having another problem.. i installed some 3.55 dex cfw and i still cant run the new portal fix.. is there something i should no? i wanna play a few newer games i have backed up but cant get them running.. one is portal and the other splinter cell trilogy i also found a 4.11 dex and 4.20 dex firmwares.. so at this point in the new ps3 hacks whats the best to be running now?

ok,
there is a 3.55 DEX with peek/poke > this allows you to run backup manager and other homebrew on DEX
if you update to DEX 4.11/4.20 etc... you can play backups upto that version but not through backup manager

^ for those you have to use a partitioned harddrive with PS3GEN

you can downgrade/upgrade between any DEX firmwares

I'm getting a problem doing this, I have the flash created successfully and with the extension NANDBIN but when i use multiman to flash it get the following error:

"The file you provided is not compatible with your system".

I then tried to name the extension NORBIN and it said "Operation not allowed".

Why do get this error? Any idea? I'm on 3.55 Kmeaw and my PS3 model is the Fat - CECHGH03

hmm if only i could use pkgs on 3.55 ps3 id of done this but i cant so il just stick with my ps3s although i may unbrick 1 of my 3.55 ps3s
