"ps3dm_sm set_del_def_encdec_key" was implemented to PERMANENTLY disable hdd/vflash encryption, and was successful but needed to have a patched syscall 9.

^This comes in handy presently, because it essentially allows the HDD to be viewed like USB Flash memory. If the dev's attempt patch process 9 and disable encryption, HDD swap can be performed and not need to be reformatted. This could even be seen in the next 4.xx Modified pup, but this would need to be brought back to the dev's attention.

tl;dr HDD will be swappable and viewable via SATA as unencrypted storage

Not exactly. You would be able to swap hdd for game backups, homebrew, patches, etc. Any thing on the hard drive would be easily accessible, even without cfw (Proof of concept)

that would be amazing to not deal with a ftp client when transferring files from the HDD to PC or Vice Versa!

But that requires hardware and opening the system. If hdd is decrypted, Then the files of the disk can still be accessed even if the system bricks. That in itself makes it worth the effort. And considering that the majority of cfw users host modded lobbies, this makes transfer direct and quicker (saves time of backup transfer to)

it would only be useful for people on ofw which is stupid cause you need a cfw or a way to do this by hardware to disable the check so really pointless since cfw 4.xx it out for the remainder of the ps3 life span to 75% probably of every user

Not really. This method requires you to take out the HDD which take some time. I tried to open it and it took me almost half an hour. The screws are screwed in tight. With FTP all you need to do is open the program transfer it over and your done. This requires taking out the HDD, then connecting via SATA cable then using ps3studio(i believe that's what it is called, correct me if I'm wrong), then putting the HDD back. See a lot more steps rather than the FTP method...

Not pointless at all, HDD still readable which there is flash brick. Backup game transfer is also quicker via SATA, not FTP

Corrections-
1)ps3hddstudio not required, HDD is not even encrypted... It is like pugging in a USB
2)HDD removal is childplay, remove one screw and done... Console doesn't need to be opened (thus not voiding warranty)
3)FTP is nothing compared to decrypted HDD due to the ability to make it swappable
