(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); YLOD sucks I;ve had to fix my ps3 many times from the ylod heres what I've learned to prevent it
I believe I've read the solder breaks dow at 80 degree s
1. Do a good repair with a heatgun (i used flux and artic silver)

2. I installed a fan mod ez chill and a 19 blade fan

3. Maybe this tuturial is for cfw because i monitor the temperature through MM or Rebug toolbox. I try to keep it under 70 degrees

4. Room Temperature is the most important thing I shut the heat off, but the console is going to start running at room temp. If i have the heat on it usually runs like 1-5 degrees over roomtemp

5. Play your games do what you do but take a break to go look in multiman or rebug toolbox and pay attention to the temperature keep it under 80 if is in that range 76-80 turn the fan up turn room temp down because the console is always going to run above room temp 80 or over turn it off let it cool

Don't keep it in an entertainment center its cant breath

Thank you to everyone here you guys helped me with your posts so this is what Id like to contribute

Balls of Steel
I leave mine without the top on it with the window cracked open. Rarely does it ever make tons of noise.

Do a barrel roll!
I have mine (slim) without screw's so during/ after some playing time I crack it open and let it cool down.

If people don't know that heat is the main cause of the PS3 YLOD, then they're too stupid to own this console, or any other console. Just saying.
