If you've ever used a Custom Firmware PSP, you know what plugins are. Plugins are files made from the development kits that are just custom background processes for the system to run. These can enable custom home (PS-button) menus and options, allow cheat menus in-game, etc. The options are limitless. Well, thanks to the release of the source code from Cobra USB team, deank has been working on his own plugins for the PS3 and I've played around with them and fell in love.

What This Plugin Does:

-allows you to have an FTP server running on your PS3 constantly, and it's faster than the blackb0x server.
-allows you to mount games using MM without opening the MM application

What This Plugin Means For You:

I've personally tested the FTP server extensively. The PS3 will run a backup without any hiccups while copying a new backup to the system. The mounting games without using MM works like this: You open ANY browser on the same network as the PS3 and go to it's IP address where a web server is being broadcasted. Select "games" at the top and it will list all the games on your external and internal drives. Click the game you want to mount's picture and the PS3 will eject whatever disc is in the system, then bring the disc back in. Whenever the disc icon comes up, it will be the game you selected. This allows you to switch backups, say, online without having to sign out, open mm, pick your game, sign back in. Saves quite a few steps. You may also use this to browse the PS3 HDD from a browser as well.

Requirements:

4.46 or 4.50 CFW. DEX and CEX
The PRX (plugin) Loader - You must login or register to view this content.
The Plugin - You must login or register to view this content.
Access to the PS3 HDD

Installation:

Install the PRX Loader pkg then ftp into your system. Browse to dev_hdd0/game/PRXLOADER/USRDIR and place the web server prx file there. Open the plugins.txt file and change the first line to "/dev_hdd0/game/PRXLOADER/USRDIR/webftp_server.sprx" without quotations and save it.

Running the Plugin:

If you are on Rebug, open the toolbox and go to the third column over (LV1 Patches column) and go to the second option. Enable LV2 Memory protection and exit the toolbox.

If you are on another firmware, I'm not sure that this step is required

Now scroll down to the PRX Loader and run it. Your PS3 will blackscreen and return to the XMB. That's it! You may now log into your PS3's ftp server at any time and you may visit the IP address on the PS3 to mount games or view the hard drive at any time.

You must run the PRX Loader and enable LV2 patches after every reboot.

How the web server looks: You must login or register to view this content.

Games list: You must login or register to view this content.

I expect to see many more plugins released in the future so keep your eyes open!

I swear it says that it works on 4.50. Maybe there is a way to protect LV2 in ps3ita manager?
