Don't ya hate it? I know I do. All tho this isn't a "fix" it makes life abit easier than having to un-plug or reach behind ya ps3 to turn it off (I prefer not to unplug ect).
I have never seen any ways to get out of this freeze so I thought illd share my way

All you need to do when if freezes is eject the disk and leave it 1/2 sticking out usally with in 30-60s the ps3 will quit the frozen game and return you to xmb also it should suck the disk back in automatically .

May not work on all firmwares or games but hope I helped you
