Ferrox is a custom firmware. I believe it is a CEX cfw.. So you should be able to install any (CEX) cfw of your choice.
Im not sure I understand what you mean by "a new ps3 update is out". Is the ps3 asking you to update? Make sure to click no and avoid updating to official firmware..

Here is how you can install a firmware:

1. Download the cfw. Rename the file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
2. On the root of a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder named "PS3"
3. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE"
4. Inside the "UPDATE" folder, place the "PS3UPDAT.PUP" file
5. Plug the usb flash drive into the rightmost usb port of your ps3
6. Boot your ps3 into recovery mode (alternatively: On the XMB, at the top of the second column from the left, select option "update system", select update "from usb device". Do not select "from internet")
7. Select option "update system"(alternatively: On the XMB, at the top of the second column from the left, select option "update system", select "from usb device". Do not select "from internet")
8. Follow prompt to install

Need any more help, just ask.

Really there is only two possibilities:

1. It was on a firmware 3.55 or lower to begin with

or

2. Someone else downgraded it

There is no other way to install cfw.

There's no point in backing up anything imo, unless you're preparing to reformat your hdd, and even then, just depends what is important to you..but that is your decision to make.
You won't lose games or saves from installing a new firmware, but you will need to reinstall any homebrews.

wat

What do you mean the game says ferrox cobra? You mean the intro to your Ps3?

You should also have install_package_files on the games column of the XMB.

The install_package file is there,
When i turn on the ps3 it says ferrox cobra, games r in multiman, installed on hdd, tryed downloading a duplex game installed it on hdd but when i load the game comes with an error.....

Another reason is that the game doesnt have any tool box like i saw on other vids on youtube.

Ps. I dont use any ethernet,im in wifi hotspot, plus psn banned me😀

And i forgot to meantion, the time i gave him the game to jb it was on 4.81 ofw

Ok yea then you're good. You're on cfw, but theres no way he could have installed it without downgrading or having it downgraded if you were on 4.81 ofw to begin with, afaik..

tool box? Rebug toolbox is a homebrew for rebug firmwares, you can simply download rebug toolbox, put it on the root of a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, plug it into your ps3, go to install_package_files and locate the pkg file to install it.

As for the games, what error? and what have you tried? What kind of files?
