As far as I can tell, JB is currently the only way to do it. I attempted just replacing HED-DATA like in DS1, but it doesn't work.

Update to 3.55 ofw
Download kemeaw patched 3.55 and update via usb drive

How are you sure? Because you're actively trying to find a solution? No, you're just waiting for someone else to do it. It's very clear that you can't do it with just file swapping, so something in the files needs to be edited. Unless someone cares and knows enough to find out what, we're not going to have a no-JB solution.
