This is a guide for people who have to use old crappy PC's that don't have wifi capabilities and want to use blackbox ftp server. Don't worry it's still possible using crossover cables.
What you will need:
- PS3 running CFW with blackbox installed
- Crossover cable
- PC with Filezilla installed (Download here

How to setup:
1. First of all, connect your crossover cable to your PS3 and your PC.
2. On your PC open up
Network connections and then right click on
Local area network and click
Properties from the list.
3. When LAN properties window opens up find
Internet Protocol from the list and then click on it to highlight and then click on the
Properties button.
4. On the Internet Protocol properties window, mark
Use the following IP adress and then you will be able to fill in the three fields below.
5. Input the IP as 192.168.1.1, the Subnet mask will fill itself out to 255.255.255.0 and put Default gateway as 1.1.1.1. At the bottom, mark Use the following DNS adresses and put in 2.2.2.4. Then click OK and click close on the Lan properties window.
6. Now on your PS3 XMB go to
Network settings and then to
Internet Connection Settings. Choose Custom setting, wired connection, Auto-Detect and then on the IP Address Setting choose Manual. Then enter the following:
IP address 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Router 1.1.1.1
Primary DNS 2.2.2.4
and then keep pressing right on the D-pad until it says press X to save settings. Now launch blackbox FTP. If it shows the IP 192.168.1.2 then you've set it up correctly.
7. Go back on your PC and launch Filezilla and follow these steps.
- Click "File -> Site Manager -> New Site"
- Input 192.168.1.2 as "Host" for FileZilla
- Put 21 as "Port"
- Set username as FTPD12345 and leave the password field empty.
- At the top of the configuration window on FileZilla, click "Transfer Settings"
- Check the box "Limit number of simultaneous connections'
- Set the value to "1"
Then simply just click
connect and voila, you should have access to your PS3's HDD, now enjoy using blackbox
