You will have to update it through the recovery menu.

Ahh, this is probably because you have to rename your file to: PS3UPDAT.PUP or else It won't work

+ It has to be done like this: Make a folder in the root of your USB called PS3 and inside that folder make one called UPDATE, inside that folder place your PUP file.

PS3 (folder) ------- UPDATE (folder) -------- UPDAT.PUP (file) It's case-sensitive.
