Afrter assigning the save I was able to get it to work on my system.
I played up to the point just after activating the elevator in chapter 4. I wasn't concentrating and run out of stamina and fall to my death. I hit retry and got stuck in an infinite loading screen. I then cosed the game and my PS3 automatically rebooted. I booted up the game again and tried to load my saved game but now my PS3 just freezes at 95% everytime I try to load my saved game.
After looking at the ubisoft forums I see that many people are have this problem and it's not just PS3. Xbox 360 players have also reported having a similar problem. Ubisoft no longer cares about the older consoles. So the chances of this problem getting fixed are not very good.
I've decided to abaddon this game because I don't care enough about a small buggy game I got for free from PS Plus.
