(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The issue of potential fees for PSN has reared its head once more, filling many of us with a mild sense of dread. We don't like spending money, after all. The mention came about as a part of an interview with Masayuki Chatani, SCE's executive VP and CTO, who said the ''sell and forget'' model wasn't as good for profitability and other ''schemes like monthly fees or per-item charges'' could be introduced. They might not, though.

Hopefully they don't start charging. They is one of the biggest advantages to PS3 alonside the Blu-Ray capabilities.

If they do, it will come down to a matter of price for me. If XBL has the better deal then I'll switch, if PSN has the better deal, then I'll stay but Sony would have to drastically improve it's severs, and assist it's third party severs (Demonware).

Sony will not make you pay for PSN- not just the ps3 psn as you would have to pay just for your psp to download games. They have had questionaires sent out to customers (like me) asking if we introduced a premium service how much/what features would you want. They cannot charge on the ps3 they would loose alot of purchases and they have brought out online games like Socom:confrontation/MAG and ff14 online next year they will not make you pay

They are already losing money on every PS3 sold.

Now I can see charging for Premium "services" but not for general online play.

your decision between two completely different gaming console's is based on a $8.00/month fee? (one fast food meal...)

I wouldnt mind paying $10 bucks a month or like $50 for the year if they give like "Premium" members additional stuff like rights to Beta Test, maybee some exclusive game content. But would also agree that they should still keep the PSN free for the reg users and just give them the right to upgrade at there liking best of both worlds I guess.

i would pay simply to keep playing every month.. but if they were to introduce new "premium status" i wouldn't buy it unless there was something i liked in it.
