Legendary games developer and the creator of the Metal Gear Solid series Hideo Kojima has said that in time the games industry will move away from consoles and turn instead to cloud-like computing technology.
“In the near future, we'll have games that don't depend on any platform,” Kojima told attendees at a Tokyo-based MGS event, according to Reuters.
“Gamers should be able to take the experience with them in their living rooms, on the go, when they travel – wherever they are and whenever they want to play. It should be the same software and the same experience.”
Adding a bit of drama to proceedings, the comments were made on a stage shared with Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s president Hiroshi Kawano. His reaction?

“It's a bold prediction. We hope he continues to develop for platforms, but we deeply respect his sense of taking on a challenge.”
The comments echo those made by Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada who said late last year that “in ten years’ time a lot of what we call ‘console games’ won’t exist”.

Think about it though, aprx. 20 years ago do you think that the guys stoned on their couch playing pitfall or pong ever believed that gaming would progress to the point where you have 10+ individuals all from different points on the globe playing in a 3 dimensional world lobbing grenades and sniping each other from across a map? Let say you traveled back in time real quick. You walk into the guys living room and there is like 5 guys all waiting for him to turn on pong. Then you pull out Wii sports tennis. They couldn't even comprehend that and it wasn't that long ago. And the average price of a console at that point in tie wasn't that different from what it is now. And the technology has changed dramatically. There's no telling what we'll be playing in 15 years.

While it is an interesting idea, its not original and history has proven otherwise

the internet isent cheap enough or powerful enough to handle that type of gaming but in maybe 30-50 it will happen because of technology change
