.....

My 80GB ps3 is now broken! Was playing some COSad AwesomeWAW when it froze and kicked me from gameplay. I then restarted ps3 it loaded fine, then after like 3-4minutes the screen started changing colors to Blue, Green (Lots of Green Circles), Yellow, and a few other colors. Then shortly after that started having designs appear as well that looked just like the Matrix Coding that flutters down from the top of screen. So after calling Playstation Customer Support and realizing I was never going to make it out of their automated customer support. So i then called a different number and spoke with this lady that was definetly not in the u.s. And well she tried telling me I had to hang up with her and call them back, so of course im not going to call them back. So me and this lady i could barely understand went back and forth about how she was useless and supposably she didnt have a manager or anyone thats higher then her, as well as I couldnt get her name, I.D number for employment identification, or even a location of the center. She was contradicting her self practically the whole time i was on the phone with her. 1st thing she said to me on the phone was "please tell me the problem your having so i can connect you with the appropriate department", so i was like ok hook me up with ps3 customer support, she then replied ok get out a pen and heres the number. She wouldnt connect me but what had me stumped was how she said she would connect me from the beginning of the call. Then she wouldnt. I wanted to wrangle the lady and drag here out of her cubicle by the phone cord she was talking to me on. But being im pretty tired after being up all night playing ps3 until it died I was nice and just ended the call with a few words of choice. (Which are all censored here on the forum so no reason to write it...lol)

End Result is after about 40-45mins of the phone calls to 3 different sony numbers I was finally able to get someone to tell me "yep, you definetly need to set your device up for service." Well thats kind of the reason I called you...duh 20mins later She said ok im sending you an email now you fill it out and then your Return Merchandise Authorization form will arrive in the postage mail in 7-10business days (which is 2 weeks) then another 3-5days to allow them to receive the item then another 7-10business days before i should suspect mine repaired or exchanged. Looks like ill be getting a re-furbished ps3 for christmas from sony, and with out ps3 for the mean time. :( Guess i needed to take a break anyways my baby girls going to be born on Dec. 4th anyways (inducing the labor) time to start being a dad and not gaming all day and night like a adoloscent. So this is what Ive been doing for the last 1~1-1/2hrs.

Funny to see Im not the only one with this problem, the only difference is that mine is out of any warranty and I wont send it in, the reason why Im not going to send it in its because I bought my playstation when they barely came out and got the 20gb one, thats like the cheapy one, so I dont want to get that one any more, Im ready to get a better one probably the 80gb.

and about to being more responsable, glad you think that way but let me tell you something, if you being a gamer most of your life( like a lot of us ) its really hard to leave that habit, in my case I still play, work and take care of my kids properly the only thing you have to do is, organize your time and you will be set.

good luck.

Well playstation does have an Out of Warranty option which use to be like $149.00 to have done which would be you send in your old one, and they send you a new refurbished one in replace of it. But that was quoted to me prior to the PS3 price drop. It wouldn't hurt to ask if they carry any kind of upgrade option for obviously an additional fee.

Well thanks for the re-assurance gaming is still possible. lol Smile^

Don't think about ur ps3. It will make u feel really depressed. Think about ur newborn baby ur going to have in 2 days. And you're going to be soo happy that ur gonna forget all about the ps3 until they send a new refurbished one back. CONGRATS!!
