Click start a few times, then try clicking circle and r3. I was able to do it this way

Also so u do all the things then when u start the game by joining and pressing x u pick ur gun but it wont let u for player 1 and u do r2 x or something like that please let me know! i plus repped!:p

It still works, sooooo make sure you are using split screen, 2 controllers, an open party person you can connect to, and you are doing everything correctly.
