(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Okay so recently my dad smashed his computer (Yeah he does that alot.) and It was newer than my PS3. Anyways I opened it up and I got the hard drive out and tried installing it in my PS3. So I tried my PS3 and it says something about and error. I did the reset and when I tried installing the OS but every time it says critical error. By the way I didn't format it. So can anyone help?

I've moved your thread to the PS3 questions, I'm pretty sure you will need to format it because there are most likely parts of the hard drive that are required by the PS3 that are being used.
I'm not entirely sure and I'm still a noob when it comes to hard drive stuff etc. :p

Just a warning: If you have anything on your current hard drive and you put in another hard drive and go through the proper process for it to work, your past had drive will need to be re-formatted as a security precaution put in by sony to prevent counterfitting and exchanging of games/DLC on hard drives.

What if I do it on a 3.41 system?

System firmware does not matter, the ps3 has always formatted new hard drives.
If you have any gamesaves you can probably just move them to a flash drive and toss them onto your PS3's new hard drive.

PS3 uses FAT32 as its file system, windows uses NTFS so if you dont format the drive first it'll never work in your ps3
