Since everyone is "hyping" about CFW for the PS3 and the release of the keys I thought about a way for sony to make sure CFW wouldn't be able to connect to PSN.
Theory
Every file has it own MD5 hash, so does every official FW released by sony. If sony checked the MD5 hash of the FW it would be able to see if people are using CFW or not since the smallest adjustment in the FW would change the md5. If sony has a way to check the MD5 before connecting to PSN, sony would be able to see if someone is using OFW or CFW.
Would this work for sony? Don't get me wrong I love the hacking and stuff but it was just a theory...
Make it all random
Now the problem is sony can't stop it now because they know how it works and the measures
Sadly sony wasted the only shot they got to stop this from ever happening
All they can do now block all access if your running a CFW or older FW
Try to convert people away from CFW by giving them something else
Sadly people in japan don't understand this and it one of the many areas sony fail at.
CFWs for the psp allowed access to PSN and that was without the rootkey.
Now that the rootkey has been discovered the PS3 is now potentially fully cracked. Homebrew, emulators, CFW, any OS, control over every CPU, the possibilities are endless.
