They are pretty much sueing geohot for releasing the PS3 System Root keys to the public via Internet. But there is not copyright law against numbers or sequences of numbers.

Also releasing the 3.55 CFW Jailbreak, Jailbreaking is not illegal, even under the DMCA, as it is just allwing users to enjoy freedom they should have with a PS3 Console.

One the court papers that have been released on geohots website (geohot.com) stat that pretty they have opened up the console for piracy. But as you might of seen both geohot and Team Fail0verflow have stated that they do not condone piracy. It they didnt even release and piracy related .pkg's in the CFW.

Also apparently according to SCEA Homebrew is illegal which its not under the DMCA. Also the Jailbreak Firmware is technically not a Jailbreak that you would get from a modchip. Because Jailbreak modchips disable all the TMP's and Rootkeys signings, so Homebrew dont need to be signed to be install. On the Jailbreak Firmware any Homebrew as to be signed with the PS3 Systems root key. So technically speaking it is a Offical Sony pachage because it been signed with Sony's keys.

Personally I dont think SCEA are going to win the courtcase, Because of what they are sueing them for is just ridiculous. Also if if where SCEA I wouldn't sue George Hotz, I would hired this smart kid to encyrpt Sony devices.

Hes not getting sued wtf those are restraining orders and notices i had 1 for trespassing on private property they arent big its really a fine theirs a big difference.. And why will he be getting sued?? A big company suing a person that probably still stay with his mom? Thats outrageous people should stop spreading rumors and read carefully theirs nothing on that paper that says he is getting sued wtf.. Its so funny cause if he does get sued you think he will stop hacking?? Noo so they put a restraining order on him he cant have any electronics no distributing of any type thing really hes on something kinda like a house arrest and yea he has to go to court so he can be dealt with but its nothing big hop off his nuts thats his personal business get out!!!

Sony most likely will not win the case. The problem is, is that it is not illegal anymore to use "Circumvention Devices" (as stated in documents). Both GeoHot and FAIL0VERFLOW have said that they do not condone piracy, and neither one of them have released anything that directly has anything to do with piracy.

I'm not even gonna comment on how much this post makes NO sense. Can you read court documents and understand their full meaning? No. He is being restrained from multiple things, and they are SUING both GeoHot and FAIL0VERFLOW for piracy and "unlawfully gaining access to the root key and distributing it". Neither of them condone piracy, and it is NOT illegal to jailbreak anymore.

Agreed. Sony will not win this case.
I have read through the Court Documents by Sony. There are many invalid arguments they make. Many things they have accused geohot of are not illegal. I have also looked at Geohot's respones documents, they point out many holes in the Sony's case. They make a very strong argument.
