The first time it only lasted about 3 months the second time i did it i drilled wholes into the bottom where the fan is for more ventilation and its lasted over 7 months. It will probably die again soon though the fan hasnt hit level 3 yet Happy so fingers crossed

Its a 60gb phat and was done using the heatgun method

nice. what did you replace the thermal grease/paste with? ALso did you put the paste/grease just on top of the cpu and gpu or did you take them off and put it under and on top of?

my 3.41 fat ylod on me the day before christmas 2010. i took it into the shop the following week. i got it back the same day. it ylod on me after an hour of being turned on. i had a 90 day warranty so i took it back for repairs again. it was in the shop for 3 days. the shop called and said it was fixed and they tested it for 4 hours straight every day to see if anything would go wrong again. they told me it was "fixed" and i shouldnt have that problem again. when i got home, it worked for the first 3 hours then ylod. i still have it sitting in my closet. :catfight:
