Post: What Sony Did!

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Sony has created a new security key (which is what geohot used to block backup manager). Do Not update if you wish to continue running hombrew. What I am going to try and do is take a look in their .pup and see if I can change things to make it so that we can update and still keep all of our beloved features.

My information may be a little of, apparently my update got ****ed up.

Edit: Apparently if you update from CFW it will take away the feature to update via usb however, if you update to 3.50 official then update to 3.56, it wont take it away.

There is also a private key on the update feature, which means in order for anyone on 3.56 to update to CFW, we need to know that private key, otherwise we can't do anything. I don't have school tomorrow, so I will be taking a look at all the shit in the .pup that I can. Sony may be smart, but we're smarter.

This is not true. As long as you don't update, I think I know a way to get around it. Also, I think I know a way to get around the current way they patched it, but it's going to take me a while. Good thing I have a load of snow that's keeping me from going to school tomorrow :P

How did you manage that? lol

Yes, it will not brick your console. Also, most homebrew wont work now.

The new update is mainly to stop people from downgrading, so if you tried the OFW 3.55, it probably wouldn't work either, or 3.50 or anything before that. And to end JailBreaking completely.

Only current patches will work. Rumoured by SONY if you tried to go back to a previous FW, it will do something to your PS3. Which is obviously fake, so from now, until CFW for 3.56, theres no going back to a previous FW.

It is impossible to end JailBreaking. All we need to do is find the new private security code which wont be that hard and then Jailbreaking is back.

It is completely safe to update from CFW. Sony cannot take away the update from USB feature. Why? Becuase there is a small community of people out there who do not have internet access on their PS3's, so they need this option.
