because there is a video which says you have to heat it up with a hair dryer is this true??

Open up the Ps3 get the motherboard out and clean up the BGA's then heat them up and let em cool down Its Pretty Easy and Holds very long when yoy get some extra cooling
you can find some video's on youtube how to search for those with a Hot Air Gun

i fixed over 30 YLOD Ps3's but Not with a hairdryer of course
i do it with Hot Air Gun ( 350 Degrees )
Open up the Ps3 get the motherboard out and clean up the BGA's then heat them up and let em cool down
Its Pretty Easy and Holds very long when yoy get some extra cooling you can find some video's on youtube how to search for those with a Hot Air Gun

No, dude. The only thing that you should be heating is your MOTHERBOARD. Not the entire PS3.
