(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So, a while back when my friend needed me to fix his PS3 because he unplugged it during a system update. He was on 3.21 and he was trying to update to 3.41. Then whenever I turn his PS3 on, it says system update failed or something, attempting to update again. Then gives error 8002F147. Every time I try to update it, it stops around 30% then says the same thing. That is the only menu that appears when I turn it on. The XMB doesn't even show up. No sound. I tried putting it in recovery mode and updating it from a flash drive and it does the same thing. PLEASE HELP!!! Is this a brick or something???

It will be a problem with the "Flash" / "NAND" thus replacing HDD = POINTLESS lol... I do think that if Clearing the HDD doesn't work you may have to try forcing a new FW! :O

You can't fix this without spending money the only way you can fix it is by following these steps:

#1: Remove the HDD, and throw it away!
#2: Disassmble your PS3, and unplug the battery!
#3: Find another PS3 HDD that is from working machine which is using the same firmware that you WERE using before!
#4: Wait about 30 minutes for the removed battery to drain from your PS3.
#5: Reassemble your PS3
#6: Turn on your PS3 with the new HDD, BUT GO RIGHT AWAY into RECOVERY!
#7: At recovery menu, pick ONLY option "RESTORE PS3 SYSTEM" (i think #5)
#8: Answer all the appearing prompts, for lang./date/time/internet, etc.
#9: You now should have a working PS3 again running on the older firmware

That will work except you need to plug in your flashdrive to the closest to the blu ray player and start and boot your ps3 3 TIMES before doing this.

The pvhax will work!! dont listen to these guys!
