What it sounds like your ps3 is dysfunctional. I'm don't know much of hardware, but it sounds like your ps3 is going bad or is bad.

How long have you had it? Has it overheated (Such as played too long and then randomly shut off). Did you Jailbreak it? Which Jailbreak? Has this occurred before? Ever drop your system or accidentally bang it onto something?
