Reports are coming in that Sony will introduce a new official price point for their PS3 consoles after they doing it in 2009 with the introduction of their slim models. The price drop said to be around £170 when Nintendo releases their 3DS consoles in March; a shrewd move by Sony to deter the interests on the 3D enabled portable gaming devices.

That’s not the only reason for the move, it is again reported that the huge cut down from the current official price is to make way for their brand new hack-proof PS3 console which they already deep into plans for it. The anonymous source has suggested that the hack-proof SKU will be a slim PlayStation 3 model, comes with 300GB hard drive and will be priced at £186.99.

The release for the new SKU is still unknown seeing that Sony is in a hot court battle with Geohot who take an influential part in massive hacking of the PS3.

If you think about it, NOTHING that is electronic is hack proof. It just depends on if a hacker wants to work on it to hack it. And it also takes time also.

Why would they make a "hack proof" Version? So many ps3's have been sold which are hackable. I don't understand how they can make one which can't be hacked. Maybe by removing certain functions within the system so they are not there in the first place so they can't be bitched at? Just seems like a strange topic to me...

NOTHING is hack proof. Sony said that, Microsoft said that (well they had like a month). It's just up to the hackers looking for a way. The only reason PS3 was hacked was because Sony took away a feature.

Mate why ? without sony there would be no ps3 to hack, just be grateful they put alot of effort into stuff like this, and why would you want them to fail, the more they fail the less chance there is of them brining out another console or features for the ps3.

Theres no way in hell. Sony is making very little profit as it is. they are making most of their money of off games. which is why they are cracking down on hackers.

Seems like a very microsoft-ic move. Creating a whole never console just to stop hacking. Sonys move makes even less than theres. The new FWs block all current hacking methods. Why don't they just ship new PS3s with new FW? Sony is just so dumb.
