(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); right here's my take on piracy

u buy a full price game from a store and sony gets the money for that sale right

but here is were i dont agree with sony on this whole piracy shit

u decide to sell that game so u take it to an exchange shop for less money than u actually paid for it

so when someone buys that game from the exchange shop who gets the money for the sale

it aint sony that gets it so they lose 1 sale of the game from new

i would rather buy preowned games than full price retail games

so for all the people downloading pirated games this is just like buying preowned games coz either way sony doesnt get money for the game

how many people on this forum actually pay full price for games

so why is sony tossing the "system will be used for pirate games"

when they dont get revenue from us buying preowned games from pawnbrokers

£50/60 isn't Sony's fault. Firstly, I never see games that price for a standard game, just collectors editions that have bonus stuff. Secondly, the biggest chunk of video game prices in the UK come from 20% VAT.

I don't believe PS3 games are worth the price for the most part. They usually have shit, tacked on online (Dead Space 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood) or are so short offline that you're safer off renting them. However there is a huge difference between paying for a game pre-owned because you think the original price is too high, and pirating it because you don't want to buy it.

Pre-owned games didn't just pop up overnight with the PS3, it's been going for a very long time but it's only now yet it's only when people are able to easily download pirate games and easily modify consoles that it's become an issue, and the economic crisis of the last few years just turned some developers into bigger assholes because people can't afford new games all the time.

If Sony, or any other company is really worried about pre-owned games, let them buy games back from gamers and resell them. The problem is, look at the price of PS3 games on the PSN Store (Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, God of War, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia trilogy), those games can not only be bought in a store cheaper brand new, but Sony started selling them at a price that would make no one want them. The only decent deal, the two GTA4 addons bundled together for £15.

But if too many people pirate then developers will go bust and pirates will be left with nothing to pirate.

But pirates rely on somebody buying the game either brand new or pre-owned and then uploading the files.

I don't think pirating is ethical, we need to support the companies that provide us with these games, whether it be Sony, the developers or our local merchant.

Take 1 shot each time the word 'pirate' or any variation of the word was/is used in this thread.

Logic = Flawed

How can you justify illegally downloading a game instead of purchasing whether its pre-owned or brand new

For every game someone downloads illegally the creators lose money because thats one less game someone is buying brand new eventually manufactures are gonna give up and not make these awesome games and then what?

Piracy does not equal pre-owned.

i never said piracy is preowned games

yes there has to have been a full price game bought for it to end up on the preowned shelves

all i was trying to get across was that when u buy a preowned game or pirate a game sony doesn't get any money

yea some 1 has to buy it full price but id sooner buy a cheap game than full price

main reason is i like playing multiplayers but im not a big fan of single player games and im very fussy in wot games i play

Piracy is wrong.
I'm not gonna sit here and bullshit saying I have never illegally downloaded anything, who hasn't?
But I stopped because like all the hardwork that the developers put in the game like how long it must take to get every little detail perfect. Coz think about it if you play cod campaign I complete it in a couple of hours but it takes a whole year of someones life to make.
& you download it not a penny goes to the company/employers for what they have done
(sorry for life story lol)
