Beyond what is a fairly obvious assumption, there's not much evidence to back up claims that Rockstar Games is at work on the next Grand Theft Auto. Some investigative work on the part of Supererogatory has turned up what's believed to be the code name and a list of characters for the newest GTA.
Shreds of Grand Theft Auto-related information have come up in the past. Most recently, Take-Two registered a series of domains that sounded a lot like the type of satirical brands that are expected to populate the billboards and airwaves in a GTA game. Prior to that, analyst Michael Pachter speculated that a release of GTA5 before the end of January 2012 makes a lot of sense due to the contract situation with key Rockstar employees.

Supererogatory's search for information about GTA5 begins with a casting call for "Sao Paulo Knights," which an actor's website indicates is another name for Max Payne 3. From there, two casting calls (PDF) for an "interactive project" known as Rush were found, which is now thought to be the code name for GTA5. An actress has Rush listed as a production from Take-Two. She played the role of "inner city female street," something that wouldn't sound out of place in a GTA game. Telsey & Company has worked with Rockstar in the past and is responsible for the castings.

Previous GTA rumors have pegged GTA5's setting as Hollywood. Many of the character in the casting calls sound like people who would be living in or around Los Angeles -- among the characters listed are a "Beverly Hills party boy," "Californian divorcee," actor, actress' publicist, and "FBI agent who now mostly works offering advice on TV shows."

None of this is definitive, of course, but the pieces seem to fit together quite nicely. If Pachter is right and GTA5 is coming by the end of January 2012, it shouldn't be much longer before we hear official word about it. Grand Theft Auto IV was first announced in May 2006, with the plan for it to be released in October 2007. After it didn't make it out until April 2008, Rockstar may have decided to keep its GTA reveals closer to its chest to avoid such a long wait between the announcement and release of GTA5.

I'd like it to be in Hollywood, that'd be a fun change. Imagine entering mansions and beating up celebrities. It'd be awesome!

Aha, and they were like real life ones:black: I would beat up all the snot nose bitchy celebrities. And if Rockstar took the setting to a real place in the world e.g. Hollywood in this case, it would make the game SOOO much fun.

With the improvements similar to what they did in GTA:V but at-least leave some good cheat codes this time. I mean sometimes I like to have infinite health for my character and my car and just go crazy!!
