Beyond what is a fairly obvious assumption, there's not much evidence to back up claims that Rockstar Games is at work on the next Grand Theft Auto. Some investigative work on the part of Supererogatory has turned up what's believed to be the code name and a list of characters for the newest GTA.
Shreds of Grand Theft Auto-related information have come up in the past. Most recently, Take-Two registered a series of domains that sounded a lot like the type of satirical brands that are expected to populate the billboards and airwaves in a GTA game. Prior to that, analyst Michael Pachter speculated that a release of GTA5 before the end of January 2012 makes a lot of sense due to the contract situation with key Rockstar employees.

Supererogatory's search for information about GTA5 begins with a casting call for "Sao Paulo Knights," which an actor's website indicates is another name for Max Payne 3. From there, two casting calls (PDF) for an "interactive project" known as Rush were found, which is now thought to be the code name for GTA5. An actress has Rush listed as a production from Take-Two. She played the role of "inner city female street," something that wouldn't sound out of place in a GTA game. Telsey & Company has worked with Rockstar in the past and is responsible for the castings.

Previous GTA rumors have pegged GTA5's setting as Hollywood. Many of the character in the casting calls sound like people who would be living in or around Los Angeles -- among the characters listed are a "Beverly Hills party boy," "Californian divorcee," actor, actress' publicist, and "FBI agent who now mostly works offering advice on TV shows."

None of this is definitive, of course, but the pieces seem to fit together quite nicely. If Pachter is right and GTA5 is coming by the end of January 2012, it shouldn't be much longer before we hear official word about it. Grand Theft Auto IV was first announced in May 2006, with the plan for it to be released in October 2007. After it didn't make it out until April 2008, Rockstar may have decided to keep its GTA reveals closer to its chest to avoid such a long wait between the announcement and release of GTA5.

I'm wondering if it would be more Hollywood this time, instead of SA. Not bad either way. i wish they would make Vice City. That's my favorite one

Vice City was good too. When you look at the track record for the GTA series... you have

GTA 3: Liberty City
GTA VC: Vice City
GTA SA: San Andreas
GTA LCS: Liberty City
GTA VCS: Vice City
GTA 4: Liberty City.

In my opinion since there wasn't a San Andreas Stories this one is going to be Los Santos again. Then I'm sure after that Vice City is going to come back... except look a lot more what Miami looks like now. Thats just my observation of the Console versions of GTA.

I agree, San Andreas was awesome!

I just don't think it's time for a San Andreas remake. I mean, it's still a very strong game, a lot of fans prefer it so IV. AND it was on a system (PS2) STILL supported by Sony. As great as it would be, I don't think it's coming next.

-remember, this is just my opinion

I would like to see everything San Andreas had with a different map, it was such a huge game! The LA Ghetto life in SA was sick, I enjoyed Niko's story as well. Vice city I didn't like the story so much.
What sort of story would you like for the next edition to the series?

You've really made me question what I just said above.. but also you are leaving out London, and the possibility of a new location - which I am totally rooting for lol

:wtf: True! If its London I would freak literally lol. I haven't seen London since the PC version of GTA. If its London I gonna buy it because I want to see how they improved it. If its in the "California" area they should do Malibu to make it more celeb based. If they do that I'm gonna go chill out with Charlie Sheen on the beach :carling:

But London or Malibu ordeal would be pretty sick. I just hope one day that they will have a GTA in middle east country :y: That would be the ultimatum right there lol

You know what? Charlie Sheen is so famous now that he could quite possible be placed in it. LOL maybe not.. but I'd fully crack up to see that.

As for the Middle East location, that would be so different. Life over there is so strange compared to home, I wouldn't know how to survive lol. All I know is it's dirt, sand and guns, and invading countries, thanks to the TV3news lol.

Great ideas for the new locations,
I know even a blu-ray disc can't handle this but, I would like to see a worldwide version, or have at least a couple of states in it, where you don't just follow a story - you can choose when you need to leave town and start fresh or choose to stay and dominate that city.
I think that's maybe just wanting too much........ lol.
I'm sure Rockstar will find some way to keep us happy

I would love for another Grand Theft Auto, these games are some of the best games on consoles. But, I've read that Rockstar and Take Two will not be putting out another GTA game after IV, so I'm not getting my hopes up quite yet.

But, Hollywood would be an interesting place. All I would want from them is to bring back planes! I love planed, flying around the cities was the shit! That was the biggest disappointment in GTA IV, it would have literally been the best game I've ever played if they had planes to fly around the city in. The graphics were amazing by GTA standards, the gameplay was good, cheats were nice, car selection was what I wanted, guns and weapons were varied. The only thing missing was the planes!!
