GameStop has started selling Modded PlayStation 3 , they contain extra HDD space, skins and HDMI. According to Sony's contract, sellers do not have any rights to change any content inside the box. This will most likely be met by a lawsuit from Sony.

Doesn't it say on the advertisement that it's refurbished? So, if it's technically not new and Sony have already sold it to the shop, then gamestop or whoever else should be allowed to do this. If the shop gives you a warranty then it's them who will fix it if it malfunctions, and so on.
Why doesn't Sony just get off their high horse for a second? It's not hacking or doing anything corrupt is it.

This isn't even modded :p Like the others said, 'refurbished' Even if Sony class it as so, they haven't caused any exploitable harm that wasn't there otherwise; if Sony even think of sueing them they are bigger idiots than they have already made themselves seem
